Elfin MS8 Clubman
The Elfin MS8 Clubman is a sports car introduced as the successor to the Elfin MS7, which was powered by a Repco-Holden V8 and won the 1975 Australian Sports Car Championship and the 1976 Australian Tourist Trophy. Sales began in July 2006 with two models: the Streamliner priced at $119,990 and the Clubman at $98,990, targeting production of approximately 100 cars annually combined across both models. UK sales commenced in April 2007, managed by Walkinshaw Performance. The Clubman was designed by Elfin Sports Cars with styling contributions from Holden Design under Mike Simcoe, making its debut at the 2004 Melbourne International Motor Show. Available in three configurations—Sportster, Roadster, and Racer—all feature open-wheeled designs. The Sportster is an entry-level road-registered model with a small aeroscreen, while the Roadster adds a full windscreen, removable door panels, and a tonneau cover. The Racer is a single-seat variant for track use. Performance specifications include a top speed of 275 km/h (171 mph), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, and a standing 400 m dash completed in 12.5 seconds. Technical features include a 5.7-litre alloy Generation III V8 engine producing 329 hp, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and LSD. Safety is ensured by traction control, ABS, and cruise control. The suspension system comprises fully independent rear and front setups with adjustable rose joints, Elfin alloy uprights, and Koni shock absorbers.
