Brian Sims, born on September 16, 1978, in Washington D.C., is the son of Army officers with Irish heritage. His childhood involved frequent moves before settling in Pennsylvania in the early '90s. He graduated from Philadelphia's Cardinal O'Hara High School in 1997 and later attended Millersville University, where he played football and became one of the first openly gay college players.

Elected to the Pennsylvania House in 2012, Sims represents the 182nd district, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. He has sponsored bills on human rights, healthcare access, and mental health support. As chair of the Human Services Subcommittee on Mental Health, he served on several committees.

Controversy arose in 2019 when he offered money to dox Planned Parenthood protestors, leading to public backlash and a police report. Sims briefly ran for Congress in 2016 but chose re-election instead. In 2022, his lieutenant governor campaign faced challenges, losing with 24.9% of the vote.

Post-politics, Sims joined Out Leadership as Managing Director in December 2022, the Tyler Clementi Foundation's board in August 2023, and became Agenda PAC CEO in September 2024. He engaged to Alex Drakos in October 2023.
