Brian A. Metcalf is an American writer, director, producer, showrunner, and actor known for his work in film and television. He wrote, directed, and produced the Lionsgate crime thriller *Adverse*, which features a star-studded cast including Mickey Rourke, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Sean Astin. The film received a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and premiered at the Fantasporto Film Festival in Portugal. Metcalf won several awards for his work on *Adverse*, including a Platinum Remi Award at the 2020 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and an Award of Excellence Special Mention from IndieFEST. Lionsgate's Grindstone Entertainment distributed the film, which was released in theaters on February 12, 2021.

Metcalf also directed the micro-budgeted drama/thriller *The Lost Tree*, which premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre and had a limited theatrical release in 2012. He wrote, directed, and produced the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment-distributed film *Living Among Us* (2017), starring John Heard in his final performance.

In 2022, Metcalf announced a new collaboration with Mickey Rourke titled *Twilight Into Darkness*, in which he would produce and direct. He also created and directed the Amazon Freevee mockumentary comedy series *Underdeveloped*, which premiered on TubiTV on September 8, 2023. Additionally, Metcalf designed the poster for the Syrian documentary *Little Gandhi* and won the Murray Weissman Award for it.

In May 2024, Deadline Hollywood reported that Metcalf was showrunning a new dramedy series featuring actor Mark Pellegrino.
