Bjarne Pedersen
Bjarne Aagaard Pedersen (born 12 July 1978 in Holstebro, Denmark) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider who represented Denmark in the Speedway World Cup, winning it twice in 2006 and 2008. He began his career in 1990 but did not become a full-time professional until 2000. His UK racing career started with Newcastle Diamonds in the Premier League.
Pedersen made his Speedway Grand Prix (GP) debut as a wild card in 2002 and earned his first full GP season in 2003. He won his only GP title at the European GP in Wrocław in 2004 and also claimed the Elite League Riders' Championship later that year. He lost interest in GP racing until qualifying for the 2008 series after a race off in Vojens.
In 2008, Pedersen was retained by Poole over Jason Crump due to his loyalty, staying with them until 2010 before moving to Eastbourne Eagles in 2011. He qualified as a permanent GP rider in 2012 after finishing second in the GP Challenge. After riding for Birmingham Brummies in 2013–2014, he rejoined Eastbourne and later returned to Poole in 2016.
In 2021, Pedersen signed with Peterborough Panthers and Plymouth Gladiators, winning a league and cup double during the SGB Premiership season. He announced his retirement afterward. Notably, he sustained a broken wrist during a Craven Shield meeting in May 2008, forcing him to miss subsequent GP events.
