Aarwangen is a village and a municipality in the Oberaargau administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is located on the bank of the river Aare. The municipal coat of arms is black and silver. The municipality has a population of 4,638 (as of December 2020) As of 2010, the population has changed at a rate of 4.7%. Migration accounted for 3.9%, while births and deaths accounted for 2.9% and 1.7% respectively. The town is home to the Bailiffs of Bern, who lived in the castle until the end of the Bernese city state in 1798. The village is located in the district of Aar Wangen, which includes the villages of Bleuerberg, Schürhstadt, Vorosberg, Hard and Meiniswil and the hamlets of Haldimoosberg and Moosberg. The population of the municipality is 4,38, with the majority of the residents being foreign nationals (10.3% of the population in 2000–2010) The town has an area of 9.9 km2 (3.82 sq mi)
