Bemidji Township Beltrami County Minnesota
Bemidji Township is located in Beltrami County, Minnesota, with a population of 2,884 as of the 2020 census, down from 3,134 in 2010. The township covers an area of 25.3 square miles (65.4 km²), of which 20.6 square miles (53.4 km²) is land and 4.6 square miles (11.9 km²) is water, representing 18.26% of the total area.
The southern three-quarters of Bemidji city falls within the township geographically but functions as a separate entity. The unincorporated towns Norway Park and Rosby are located within the township. Major highways include U.S. Routes 2 and 71, and Minnesota State Highway 197.
Bemidji Township is bordered by several townships: Northern Township to the north, Frohn Township to the east, Farden and Helga Townships in Hubbard County to the southeast and south, Rockwood Township in Hubbard County to the southwest, and Grant Valley Township to the west. The township contains four cemeteries: Calvary, Greenwood, Holy Cross, and Nymore.
Demographically, as of the 2000 census, the population was 2,934, with a density of 139.0 inhabitants per square mile (53.7/km²). The racial makeup included 89.37% White, 6.82% Native American, and smaller percentages of other groups. The median household income was $41,279, with 6.9% of families and 10.5% of the population below the poverty line.
The township is geographically significant for its lakes, including Lake Bemidji (south quarter), Lake Irving, Lake Marquette, and Lake Plantagenet.
