The Chesapeake Beach Rail Trail, also known as the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail, follows parts of the original Chesapeake Beach Railway route from Washington, D.C., to Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Managed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), the trail spans 28 miles through Calvert and Anne Arundel counties and 11 miles in Prince George's County.

In Calvert County, a 100-acre tract adjacent to Fishing Creek was acquired, renamed Fishing Creek Park, and developed into a trail connecting residential communities to Chesapeake Beach and North Beach. The first segment of the trail was completed by 2011 after funding delays.

Anne Arundel County features natural surface trails within the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, stretching over a mile from the Patuxent River to River Farm Road.

Prince George's County has a small built section between Crown Street and Addison Plaza, with additional planning underway for a segment near Upper Marlboro.
