Carlos Garca Lpez
Carlos Alberto García López, known as El Negro García López, was an Argentine guitarist and rock musician, influential in his country's music scene. Born on September 9, 1958, in Buenos Aires into a musical Afro-Argentine family, he began playing guitar at a young age. By 15, he formed the band Cronos, gaining local popularity.
In the early '80s, he joined La Torre with Patricia Sosa, becoming popular and releasing their debut album in 1982, which received critical acclaim. He left La Torre in 1985 and collaborated with artists like Fito Páez and Charly García. In 1992, he formed the García López Band, achieving moderate success and headlining festivals.
Throughout his career, he released solo albums including *Da Cruz* (1992), *Números rojos* (2006), and *Esta vez invita el Negro* (2010). He also worked on projects in Mexico City after a fallout with Charly García. Tragically, he died in 2014 in a car accident while returning from filming a music video. Tributes included a commemorative football match shirt by his beloved All Boys team.
