Gary Epler is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a renowned author and speaker. He began his medical education at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1967, where he held leadership roles such as class officer and president of the Student American Medical Association. During his studies, he established an evening clinic in New Orleans' 9th Ward and completed his internal medicine internship at Harlem Hospital in New York City. Epler served in the United States Public Health Service from 1972 to 1974, working on tuberculosis research in Hawaii and Maryland. He also worked as an Indian Health Service physician in South Dakota and directed a nutritional study in Upper Volta, Africa. He directed the NIOSH Industrial Spirometry Program and consulted for the Social Security Administration’s Disability Panel.
