Wayne Hussey

Jerry Wayne Hussey, born on May 26, 1958, in Bristol, England, is an English musician best known as the lead singer of The Mission and guitarist for The Sisters of Mercy. Influenced by Marc Bolan and T. Rex as a child, he pursued a career in music despite his LDS upbringing, which conflicted with his passion for rock 'n' roll. In the late 1970s, he moved to Liverpool to join the city's music scene, performing with various bands before joining Dead or Alive in the early 1980s.

After leaving Dead or Alive, Hussey joined The Sisters of Mercy as a guitarist and backing vocalist, contributing to their signature sound. In 1986, he co-founded The Mission with bassist Craig Adams, becoming its frontman. The band achieved success with albums like *God's Own Medicine* (1986) and *Blue* (1996). Hussey has also collaborated on solo projects, including *Bare* (2008) and *Songs of Candlelight & Razorblades* (2014), as well as with other artists like Julianne Regan on *Curios* (2011).

In the studio, he uses Fender Telecaster and Starcaster guitars, while live performances feature Schecter Corsair 12-string or Schecter guitars. Hussey has also contributed to collaborations such as *ReMission International TOS2020* (2020), a project supporting COVID-19 relief. A resident of Brazil since 2008, he is married with children and continues to tour and record, maintaining a prominent role in the UK music scene.
