Vision of You

"Vision of You" is a song by American singer Belinda Carlisle, released as the fifth single (sixth in Japan) from her third solo album, *Runaway Horses* (1989). It was released on May 14, 1990, in the United Kingdom, reaching number 41 on the charts. A year later, it was remixed and re-released on 12-inch vinyl with a live version of "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," which charted lower at number 71.

The song received mixed critical reception. Paul Lester from *Melody Maker* praised Carlisle's elaborate musical style, comparing it to the Beatles, while Peter Stanton from *Record Mirror* described it as a "mellow number" that lacked direction. The pan-European magazine *Music & Media* noted its slow, catchy melody and potential appeal during calm moments on European radio stations.

A music video for "Vision of You" featured live footage from Carlisle's performance and tour material shot during her Asian tour. The track listings varied by format: the 7-inch, cassette, and mini-CD single included "Vision of You" (7-inch version) and "Leave a Light On" (Kamikazee mix), with the US cassette containing blank tape on the B-side. The 12-inch and CD single added "I Feel Free" (12-inch extended mix). In 1991, the 12-inch single included a remix of "Vision of You" and the live version of "Heaven Is a Place on Earth."

The song has been covered by Jennifer Rush for her 1993 album and by Lea Salonga, whose cover appeared on her self-titled album the same year.
