Muhammad Arshad Khan

Muhammad Arshad Khan, known as MAK, was born on October 14, 1969, with an official birthdate of February 16, 1972, in Pontia, Tehsil Topi, District Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He spent his early years in Karachi before moving to Topi. Khan studied at Government Primary School Shaheedan Topi and Government High School Topi, obtaining his secondary school certificate in 1988. He completed his intermediate studies from Peshawar Board and later earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in sociology from Karachi University, where he also majored in mass communication, community development, and urban sociology. In 1996, he received a Master of Arts degree with a thesis on maternal and infant health in low-income groups. Khan's artistic career began without formal art training. He learned drawing and painting under Bashir Mirza from 1997 until Mirza's death in 2000. He also attended classes with Nayyer Jameel and participated in the Sunday gatherings at Indus Gallery, interacting with prominent artists. Khan uses his art to pay tribute to his ideals and has exhibited his work in Karachi and other cities. In community service, Khan founded Ranrraa Development Trust in 2006 to support students affected by terrorism, particularly in Swat and Waziristan. The trust aims to boost morale and provide educational opportunities. He also led an anti-toy gun campaign through RDT, advocating against the sale of toy guns that he believes promote violence among children.
