Kim Seong-eun athlete

Kim Seong-Eun (born February 24, 1989, in Seoul) is a South Korean long-distance runner specializing in marathon events. She represented South Korea at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. Her personal best for the marathon is 2:27:20 hours, achieved in 2013. Kim began competing in middle- and long-distance track events as a teenager. She broke South Korea's indoor record for the 3000 meters at the 2005 Asian Indoor Games, finishing second behind India's O. P. Jaisha. In 2006, she won the national title for the 5000 meters and placed second in the 1500 meters. She competed in the 3000 m and 5000 m at the 2008 World Junior Championships, finishing 15th and 10th, respectively. After shifting her focus to road running from 2009 onward, Kim attempted her marathon debut at the 2009 Seoul International Marathon but did not finish. She achieved notable performances in subsequent years, including a half-marathon win in Incheon with a time of 73:14 and a personal best of 71:34 in the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon in 2010. Her marathon performance improved to 2:29:27 at the Seoul International Marathon, earning her fifth place. In 2011, Kim competed in the World Championships in Daegu, finishing 28th in the marathon and being South Korea's top performer. She also won the 10,000 meters at the Korean National Sports Festival with a personal best of 33:46.61 minutes.
