Javed Iqbal serial killer

Javed Iqbal Mughal (1961–8 October 2001) was a Pakistani serial killer who confessed to the sexual abuse and murder of 100 boys aged 6 to 16. His victims were strangled, dismembered, and dissolved in acid. In December 1999, Iqbal sent a letter confessing his crimes to police and a newspaper editor. Inside his home, police found bloodstains, a strangulation chain, photographs of victims, and two vats of acid with partially dissolved remains. He claimed his motive was anger over a prior sodomy charge where the victim had attacked him, leading to his mother's death.

Iqbal turned himself in after fearing for his life and was sentenced to death. However, he died in Kot Lakhpat Jail on 9 October 2001, alongside an accomplice, officially reported as a suicide by hanging with bedsheets. Autopsies revealed they had been beaten before death.

A film titled *Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of A Serial Killer* (2023) depicts his trial but faced censorship issues in Pakistan before being released on 2 June 2023.
