"Chuzhi," released in 1973, is a Malayalam-language drama film directed by Triprayar Sukumaran. It stars Savitri, Salam, and Sujatha, with Savitri playing her only role as a heroine in a Malayalam film. The story revolves around Varghese, a planter living with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Beena on tea estates. After their son's death, Varghese turns to alcohol, which negatively impacts Elizabeth, who also becomes an alcoholic. Following Varghese's death, Elizabeth appoints Baby (Salam) as the estate manager. Despite being corrupt, Baby is loved by Beena, who hopes to reform him. However, Elizabeth's alcoholism worsens, leading her to engage in a physical relationship with Baby and become pregnant. When Beena discovers this, she rushes to confront Baby but finds he has already killed himself. Overwhelmed by shame, Elizabeth commits suicide, leaving Beena to become a nun.

The film was shot at Newton, Syamala studios, and Kalpetta in Wayanad district. The dialogues were written by Salam, and the screenplay by N.P. Mohammed, based on S.G. Bhaskar's story. Moorthy handled cinematography, and Ravi edited the film. The music was composed by M.S. Baburaj. "Chuzhi" was one of the first Malayalam films to receive an adult-only "A" certificate from the CBFC, reflecting its mature themes.
