C J Gable
C.J. Gable, born Carl Gable Jr. on October 19, 1987, is a former Canadian football running back known for his collegiate and professional career. He attended Sylmar High School in California, where he set school records with over 6,000 rushing yards and earned recognition as a Parade All-American.
Gable played college football at the University of Southern California (USC), becoming the first freshman to start at running back in 2008. He sustained a season-ending injury that year but returned as a fourth-year junior in 2010, leading USC to the Rose Bowl. His collegiate career included multiple rushing titles and team accolades.
After going undrafted in 2011, Gable joined the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers practice squad. He later played for CFL teams, including the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he won the CFL Rookie of the Year award in 2015 and earned multiple All-Star selections. With the Edmonton Eskimos, he achieved career highs with over 1,000 rushing yards in consecutive seasons (2018-2019). Gable retired on April 1, 2021, signing a one-day contract with the Tiger-Cats to conclude his career as a member of the team.
