Byron Wilson

Byron Neal Wilson, born on September 1, 1971, is an American former professional basketball player who also holds Argentinian nationality. He stands at 6 feet 3 inches tall. Wilson had a notable high school career at Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana, where he averaged 19 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game as a senior. He shot 52% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line, earning All-City, All-Conference, and All-State honors. Wilson then played college basketball at the University of Utah after initially being ineligible due to Proposition 48. During his sophomore season, he averaged 8.7 points over 32 games under Coach Rick Majerus. In his junior year, he led the team in steals with an average of 1.3 per game and scored 12.1 points per game, including a career-high 25 points against BYU. As a senior, Wilson recorded highs in rebounds (5.7), assists (2.8), steals (1.3), and points (12.5) while shooting 47.4% from the field. He was named to the All-WAC First Team. Professionally, Wilson was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1993 but was released before the season began. He played briefly in the CBA before moving to Argentina, where he had a successful career spanning over a decade. In Argentina, he won four league championships, three Finals MVP awards, and the 2001 Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol.
