Bristol Unicornfest

Unicornfest was a public arts trail in Bristol, England, celebrating the city's 650th anniversary. The event featured 60 giant unicorn sculptures designed by artists, designers, and local talent, displayed from July 2 to September 2, 2023. These unicorns were placed across various locations in Bristol and nearby areas such as Weston-super-Mare, Cheddar Gorge, and Chew Valley Lake. Over 40 artists contributed to creating the 60 sculptures.

In addition to the main unicorn trail, 40 smaller foal sculptures decorated by schools, colleges, nurseries, and community groups were also on display. Unicorns have been a symbol of Bristol since the 17th century, appearing on landmarks like County Hall and the SS Great Britain.

Following the trail's conclusion, a Unicorn Farewell Festival was held from September 22 to 24, after which the sculptures were auctioned off on October 5 to raise funds for Leukaemia Care. This event followed in the footsteps of previous sculpture trails in Bristol, including "Wow! Gorillas" in 2011, "Gromit Unleashed" in 2013, "Shaun in the City" in 2015, and "Gromit Unleashed 2" in 2018.

During the trail, some sculptures suffered vandalism. Notable incidents included "Butterfly Concerto," designed by Cheba, which had its horn broken off before the trail opened; "The Golden Unicorn," near the Merchant Navy Memorial, had its horn removed during the first weekend; and "Nova," painted by Talora Walsh, sustained damage to half of its horn.
