Bridlewood Ottawa

Bridlewood is a neighbourhood located in Kanata South Ward, part of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was originally part of the Township of Nepean until 1978, when it became part of the City of Kanata. In 2001, Kanata amalgamated with Ottawa. The community is situated east of Eagleson Road, south and west of the National Capital Commission Greenbelt, and north of Hope Side Road.

Bridlewood began developing as a residential area in the 1980s, replacing previous agricultural use on land that was once part of the Deevy farm. In 1978, it was incorporated into Kanata, and the farmhouse from the Deevy farm remained until its demolition in 2013.

The community experienced population growth over the decades: 19,167 people lived there in 2006, 21,247 in 2011, and 24,400 in 2016. Ontario Hydro installed a hydro line corridor in the early 1970s and increased voltage in 1989, which faced opposition from residents concerned about electromagnetic radiation.

The Bridlewood Community Association (BCA) manages local affairs, including sports, safety, and zoning issues. Sports participation is significant, with over 800 children involved in soccer programs in 2007. The community supports the True Sport movement. Bridlewood has six elementary schools: three public (W.O. Mitchell, Bridlewood Community, Roch Carrier) and three Catholic (St. James, St. Anne, Elizabeth Bruyere). A new French-language school opened in September 2010.

The area is represented by councillor Allan Hubley. Notable resident Gordon O'Connor served as a Member of Parliament.
