Australian Youth Climate Coalition

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), established in 2006, is a youth-led organization focused on climate change activism. It began as part of the broader Youth Climate Movement and initially included 27 affiliated groups but later became an independent entity. The coalition works closely with the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, which separated from AYCC in 2020.

Key figures include co-founders Amanda McKenzie and Anna Rose, who received the Environment Minister's Young Environmentalist of the Year Award in 2009, alongside Ellen Sandell, then national director. Grace Vegesana is the current national director as of August 2024.

AYCC runs various campaigns, such as Power Shift summits (e.g., Melbourne’s largest youth climate summit in 2013), Youth Decide voting events on renewable energy targets, and the Meet Your Member campaign where young people met local MPs. Notable initiatives include the Walk for Solar in 2012 and the #StopAdani campaign, which successfully influenced Westpac's climate policy.

Funding primarily comes from donations and bequests, totaling A$4.79 million in 2020. The organization remains committed to driving youth-led climate action through these initiatives and collaborations.
