Armstrong Pame
Armstrong Pame is an officer of the 2009 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), belonging to the Manipur cadre. He hails from the Zeme Naga community and is widely recognized as the "Miracle Man" for constructing a 100 km road in a remote area through crowdfunding, now designated as National Highway 137. This project, known as the "People's Road," connects Manipur to Nagaland and Assam. Pame initiated public participation via Facebook in August 2012, raising over Rs. 50 lakhs for the effort.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and has completed leadership courses at Oxford University and Harvard Kennedy School. He is also a Young Global Leader (Class of 2018) as recognized by the World Economic Forum. Pame has served in various roles, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate in challenging terrains, Deputy Commissioner in Kamjong and Tamenglong, and Director in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
Pame has received several awards, including India's Most Eminent IAS Officer Award 2015 and India's Distinguished IAS Officers Award 2022. He was nominated for CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in 2012 and appeared on Amitabh Bachchan’s show *Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi*. He is a motivational speaker at events like TEDx, universities, and corporate platforms.
Additionally, Pame founded the Global Shapers Community in Imphal and collaborated with CHD Group to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Manipur. He also initiated an innovative program inviting school children to his office for dinner and discussions every 2nd and 4th Friday.
